Jose Pillich, PhD – Founder/President of IQSpatial, LLC
With a passion for sustainability, from social to environmental, Jose has spent over 15 years in the consultancy and interdisciplinary research sectors. His extensive experience in geospatial data analysis and research has been used by urban planners, policymakers, transit agencies, and the financial services industry to help make a more equitable and sustainable world.
Jose uses geospatial data to understand the effects of the built environment and climate on vulnerable populations. Helping cities adapt to climate change while prioritizing and elevating community needs. His work on climate risk management has helped cities and agencies in the US and Canada clearly define sea-level rise and stormwater issues to build green infrastructure, mitigating climate impacts on communities. His research on climate effects on communities, the energy and transportation sectors, and green infrastructure has been published in academic journals.
Growing up on military bases around the US and Germany, he’s traveled the world to over 20 countries. Jose has a Master of Urban Planning from Hunter College, GIS certification from Lehman College, and a PhD in Earth and Environmental Sciences from the City University of New York. Jose is the Founder and President of IQSpatial, LLC.
Operations
Ryan Kmetz – Founder/Executive Director
Ryan, the founder of The Geo Transparency Project, serves as the Executive Director and handles all aspects of daily operations and projects. Over the past decade, Ryan has worked on projects that address the intersection of sustainability, climate, environment, and resilience in both private and public sectors. He has worked with various types of environmental and climate data through different kinds of projects. Ryan holds a Master’s of Science in Environmental Studies – Sustainable Development and Climate Change from Antioch University New England and a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from Le Moyne College. He also has an Environmental Sustainability Professional Credential from the Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure.
Ryan is an expert in listening to stakeholder’s needs to help them analyze and aggregate geospatial datasets, commonly known as mapping data. He believes in data-driven storytelling as a crucial tool to engage communities and advocate for a healthier and more resilient environment. Ryan aims to provide stakeholders with access to technology and materials they may not have had in the past through his work with GIS and other cutting-edge data tools.
In his spare time, Ryan indulges in woodworking, spoon carving, and his passion for baseball. He enjoys volunteering and spending quality time with his family, including both humans and pets. Although he has lived all over the mid-Atlantic, Ryan currently considers Maryland his home.
